Bello Mundo Cafe

Today we visited Bello Mundo Cafe in beautiful downtown SLO.  It is located at 980 Monterey Street.  It's a small establishment, but big on hometown friendliness, service, and ambience. Sheila had her usual black coffee, which came in a unique mug.  It was strong, bold, and satisfying.  It was $2.75.  Joan had an Americano with homemade almond milk and vanilla bean syrup.  Joan said it was very strong but smooth, and not overly sweet.  She said it would be a great start to a busy day.  It came with a tiny yet delicious almond biscotti.  The cost was $3.50.  Bello Mundo uses beans exclusively from an all female owned company in Nicaragua, called Equator.  The bean, called Las Mercedes, has a chocolately, caramel, traditional roast flavor.
The menu includes pastries and sweets to enjoy with your coffee or tea.
View from outside seating at Bello Mundo.

There are some tables and chairs inside as well as outside for a relaxed coffee experience.
Think About It:  We thought this quote was a great "think about it" for today.

Starbucks on Broad Street

This week our coffee crawl took us to the Starbucks near Trader Joe's on Broad Street for a very special reason.  For the last few years I took my dad grocery shopping on Saturday mornings and we always ended with coffee at Starbucks.  We both truly enjoyed these visits every week.  My dad passed away at age 94 on August 20th.  I will always treasure those Saturday morning coffees at Starbucks and the many stories he told me about his life while we sat there and enjoyed a cup of plain black coffee.
Thanks for letting me share this memory with you,
Sheila                                                                                                   Sheila and my dad, Tom.
Sheila got her usual black coffee, which cost $1.75.     Starbucks is always consistent, which is one of the nice things about going there.  The black coffee is delicious.  Joan's "fancy" coffee was a tall toffee nut latte with soy, whipped cream, and it had a hint of salt. It cost $4.05.  The sweetness made it a dessert-like indulgence.
This Starbucks has both indoor and outdoor seating.  The indoor seating consists of comfortable "stay awhile" feeling chairs as well as tables and stools.  There is plenty of outside seating, perfect for the moderate San Luis year round climate.
There is a wide variety of food and coffee variations, which often change with the seasons.  The baristas are adept at individualizing coffee drinks to your specifications.  Pleasant music is playing in the background, both indoors and out.
Think About It:  It might be difficult, even painful at times, but take time to spend with an elderly person when you can.  The rewards will stay with you both forever.
